Online Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Safety Training – General Industry This OSHA- and ANSI-compliant Online Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Safety Training course is designed for employees in general industry who operate or work around mobile elevating work platforms, including scissor lifts, boom lifts, articulating booms, vertical mast lifts, and other applicable MEWPs. The course provides the formal instruction required by OSHA and incorporates the current ANSI/SAIA A92 standards for the safe use and operation of MEWPs. Participants will learn to recognize workplace hazards, perform pre-use inspections and function tests, understand equipment classifications, maintain load capacities, use fall protection correctly, identify environmental hazards, respond to emergencies, and safely operate MEWPs in a variety of workplace environments. Training topics include: OSHA requirements for MEWP operators ANSI/SAIA A92 standards MEWP types and classifications Operator responsibilities Supervisor and employer responsibilities Pre-use inspections and function testing Safe operating procedures Workplace hazard recognition Stability and load capacity Fall protection requirements Traveling with an elevated platform Working near power lines and traffic Emergency procedures and rescue planning Proper parking and shutdown procedures Upon successful completion of the online course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion documenting successful completion of the formal instruction portion of MEWP operator training. Important: Completion of this online course does not authorize an individual to operate a Mobile Elevating Work Platform. Before operating a MEWP, OSHA and ANSI standards require operators to receive equipment-specific familiarization, hands-on practical training, a workplace performance evaluation conducted by a qualified person, and employer authorization.
